Private Residence - Glam - Outdoor Wedding
Kendall and Josh will always hold a special place in my heart. I clearly remember the day that Kendall, her mom Karen and her maid of honor, Kinsey, came in for a consult. Not only did we have an instant connection but I just knew there would be something special about their wedding. As a child, Kendall had always dreamed of getting married at her childhood home, which is also a working farm. Upon my first visit of the property, my mind was blown with how stunning the location was. Gorgeous views of the countryside, the kind you see in movies with horses running in the background. It was the perfect spot.
The ceremony was going to take place amongst the field of tall wheat grass and the reception, inside the horse arena on the property. Now this wasn't any old arena, it was a beautifully built, covered structure where Kendall and her mom were able to ride their horses daily, rain or shine. Given that the floor was all sand, Kendall's family, along with Josh's had a "flooring party" where they carefully laid plywood to create flooring for the event.
Having a blank canvas to work with, we opted to keep the natural beauty of the building, while adding elements to make it feel more like a wedding venue. For the ceremony, Kendall's father, David made a ceremony structure (out of wood from their original family home), Blum Floral dressed the piece with florals to make it look as though it was growing out of the ground and Letters + Dust even hand painted a quote for the couple. The ceremony had everyone crying tears of joy for the couple, myself included. Oh, and did I mention that guests were escorted to the ceremony by the Sheriff's Mounted Posse??
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the back lawn of the family's home. After which they made their way to the reception where we hung 3 massive gold chandeliers down the center of the ceiling and used a combination of exposed wood farm tables and round tables with ivory linens. Tall and short floral arrangements of lush ivories, whites and blush florals along with Fruitwood chivaris, gold beaded glass chargers with round menu cards adorned each table. The most amazing night for the most amazing couple and family.

This time around, Mary wanted to do something super special for her friend and past nanny, Kim. Kim is the kind of person that lights up the room when she walks in. She has a wonderful way with kids, but she's truly just a joy to be around. I have no doubt in my mind that she will be an amazing mother to a super special little boy. And...can we talk about her darling baby bump?!?!
Mary wanted to go all out and throw a chic garden party brunch at her new home in tones of green, black, white and gold to celebrate the mama-to-be. Guests enjoyed cocktails (and yummy mocktails too!) and delicious appetizers courtesy of Art of Catering. With modern sleek white lacquer tables from Vintage Meets Modern, polka dot flatware from Party Place and the cutest place card/pregnancy fact sheet from Crave Design, it was truly an event to remember. I can't decide which was my favorite detail....the custom green chiavari chairs or the super unique vodka infusion station courtesy of Public Provisions! Clearly, this group likes to have fun.
After an over-the-top brunch buffet, guests oooh'd and ahhh'd over the darling baby gifts, enjoyed a delicious cake by Dream Cakes and cocktailed the morning away. Of course, we couldn't forget the kiddos and set them up with their own craft table! While I do love planning weddings, its so fun to do something a little different, especially with creative freedom!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Shannon for over ten years. I met her at Urban Waxx when she was a one-woman show in a tiny flex space. Since then she's grown her company to over eight locations (with more to come!) and I'm lucky enough to call her a friend. She is an inspiring business woman, but what I love about her most is her sense of humor. Seriously, she makes me laugh SO hard. When Shannon asked me to plan her wedding I was over the moon!! I met Joe early on and the two of them together are like a comedy routine. Such a sweet couple and just good, solid people.
When it came to their wedding, they wanted nothing to do with planning. All I knew is that they like rose gold and they wanted good food. So...rose gold they received along with marble accents (that bar though!), lush peonies (why not include my favorite when I have free reign?!?!), dramatic anemones and a color scheme of white, black, grey and rose gold. The design was sleek, sexy and modern and went perfectly with the lines of their beautiful home, where their event was held. Thankfully, they loved it all!
Guests arrived, valeted their car, walked under a dramatic balloon arch by Balloons on Broadway, and were treated to appetizers and delicious cocktails by White Pepper. They headed down to the lawn for a standing ceremony by Kevin Yell that was so sweet and personal. Shannon + Joe's love for each other and for their children is heartwarming. The kiddos, who are super close, watching their parents get married with tears in their eyes was everything.
Afterwards, DJ Evil One spun dinner right into a serious dance party and of course Shannon had to change into a reception dress. It was such a great night and best of all, so personal! Congrats Shannon + Joe, I loved every second of planning your fab event!

Mindy and Jamie are 110% couple goals. They are a gorgeous, kind, talented, and incredibly in love which shined bright through their Great Gatsby wedding.
The couples wedding took place at a private residence, which fingers crossed, we can use again if Mr. Budd will ever take me up on my offer. The views from Mindy’s childhood home are stunning enough on their own, but paired with a simple white runner and white drape created the perfect ceremony backdrop that allowed the couple to be the main focus. Just take a look at these photos from Dan Rice Photography and the amazing video from Jordan Niswender Videography.
After the ceremony and cocktail hour finished, guests were invited to the reception under lush green trees draped in café lights. Dinner tables alternated silky champagne and drool worthy sequin linen as well as carefully crafted black or white fanned napkins. Rather than flowers, large gold vases with black and white feather plumes brought stunning height to the tables while mercury votives in all sizes glowed in the evening light.
This wedding also contains my favorite wedding moment EVER. In 6 years of planning, I have never pulled off a surprise like this one. Remember when I said this couple was talented? Well Jamie used to play in a popular cover band, so when he came to me with a song he wrote/recorded just for Mindy and asked to cut their first dance song short I did not hesitate to say yes and keep the secret. Blue Wave Band helped me orchestrate the surprise and let me tell you, there was not a dry eye in the house.
Mindy and Jamie, we wish you the sweetest future together and know you will do great things.
I had the pleasure of working with the Sanders family on Melissa + Charlie's gorgeous wedding back in 2014 and instantly fell in love with them. This crew is as sassy as can be with impeccable taste, high standards and a great sense of humor. I've worked on small projects here and there with Carla since then, and was absolutely thrilled when she contacted me to plan a rehearsal dinner for a very special nephew, Joe and his fiance Mickinzie. The festivities were to take place at Carla's beautiful home in Kalama!
A true Italian, this event was a nod to the family's heritage. We coordinated an amazing menu complete with a special family polenta recipe, rolls adorned with twine and rosemary, and an abundance of dishes served family style on beautiful wooden tables. A huge hit was the raclette appetizer station, courtesy of Devil's Food. Who doesn't love perfectly melted cheese and accoutrements? Dessert was a display featuring panna cotta, jordan almonds, biscotti and tarts to name just a few of the treats, and also available to guests was a yummy coffee cart. Kids were made very welcome with gift bags containing everything from bubbles, to fortune tellers to stickers--everyone was happy!
A smoking hot couple, Kerrin and Chris envisioned their wedding celebration as a long weekend of equal parts relaxing and partying, all focused on spending time with their friends and family from near and far. They found a perfect retreat in Central Oregon at a private residence on the outskirts of Bend with plenty of space to house their bridal party and all kinds of activities on site to entertain, from a putting green (and several golf tees scattered about the estate) to a pool table! Even a lake on property offered perfect relief from the hot summer days for lazy floating with a cocktail in hand. Despite the terrible forest fires in the area that choked the air with smoke, Kerrin and Chris maintained a great spirit and enjoyed an unforgettable celebration -- it was smoking and hot, just like them!
The ceremony was held simply on a spit of lawn with the high desert on one side and the lake on the other. A large tent was set on the lawn across the lake for the reception, with corn hole and cocktails to entertain the guests in the space between. Large sprawling installations of greenery with hops, eucalyptus, olive branches and other hardy plants were accented with the soft white and ivory floral of garden roses, hydrangea, lisianthus, and dahlias to highlight focal points. Meanwhile the tables were simply dressed in ivory linens with a soft chiffon runner, greenery and votive candles to add romance to the tables. In keeping with the clean, modern, sophisticated black and white theme, marble table numbers identified tables. Individual menus were printed with the marble motif and hand calligraphed place cards were affixed with mini black and silver binder clips, adding both a fun mod decorative element and function in keeping the stationery stationary!
Comfort food was on the menu including ribs and a mac n cheese buffet. Guests were offered sassy disposable bibs to protect their dressy attire -- tuxedos for the gents and a cheeky “Marriage is Messy” aphorism printed for the ladies! Pies and late night snacks of tater tots and soft pretzels (with all the fixings) kept guests full and happy on the dance floor until the s’mores smorgasboard came out and a curated selection of fine whiskey capped off the night.
It was so much fun working with Kerrin and Chris and helping them to create a memorable setting for their wedding and so rewarding to see their guests having such a great time. Congratulations again, Kerrin and Chris!

Planning Meghan and Jake’s wedding was a rare opportunity to step into a dreamland of possibilities. They described their vision for an ancient, sylvan, Celtic and Nordic inspired celebration that captured my imagination instantly. It was clear that their multi-day wedding festival would be singular. They would lavish their guests with an extraordinary taste of the richest experiences of the Pacific Northwest, offering a chance to retreat from the demands of modern life and engage in an idyllic, almost mythical celebration, focused around feasting, music, and storytelling.
With a passion for children’s literature and all the magic it holds, Meghan and Jake incorporated references to their favorite stories throughout the wedding, and of course J.R.R. Tolkien's “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of The Rings” were not exceptions. The sign posted at the gate reading “No Admittance Except on Party Business” was a fitting edict and in the weeks leading up to the wedding we certainly had the whole place in an uproar! J.K. Rowling’s stories of Harry Potter’s adventures also held a striking place with the Deathly Hallows symbol featuring prominently.
For their ceremony and reception Meghan and Jake chose a setting in an old growth forest in early spring. Replete with ancient symbolism, the new season arrived merely days before their ceremony. Spring flowers and the naturalistic feel of an ancient mossy forest framed the decor, and we blended stout walnut tables and elegant green velvet runners with luxuriant sheepskin fur covered chairs. To create a sense of stepping into an alternate fantasy world, we inverted the lighting and the florals such that tables were scattered with chunky, medieval beeswax candles (still leaving plenty of room in anticipation of the family style feast!) while opulent florals were suspended overhead in shades ranging from pale ivory, peach, and lilac to rich amethyst.
On arrival guests were each bundled into a personalized Pendleton blanket, fastened with custom kilt pins. Hand-warmers could be tucked into the bespoke fleece pockets inside the blanket-cloaks, which along with mugs of warm cider kept guests cozy in the still chilly spring air. After mixing their own confetti potpourri, guests processed to a candle-adorned grotto accompanied by way finders and the thrilling music of a lone bagpiper droning along the misty forest paths. It set the tone for an unforgettable evening.
After vows and rings were exchanged, Meghan and Jake led the way to the reception, lighting torches along the path and starting the ceremonial bonfire together. It was the cue for the feasting to begin! A tower of pink Champagne was poured, storybook inspired cocktails were offered around, and ten (yes, ten!) mouthwatering courses of hors d’oeuvres from Portland master chef Jose Chesa enchanted guests’ palates. A multi-course dinner followed, and music and dancing carried the festivities late into the night. For those guests more inclined to recline and converse away from the music, a sign to “Longbottom Leaf” showed the way to a sumptuous tipi dedicated to the enjoyment of cannabis with Middle Earth pipes alongside more modern contrivances.
It was an altogether magical night, made even more extraordinary with the knowledge that its success was entirely due to an outstanding team of professionals spanning the spectrum of the artistic and event industries in Portland and the Pacific Northwest. It was an honour and a privilege to help bring Meghan and Jake’s wedding vision to life, and as all good stories come to an end I couldn’t be more thrilled to see them married, happily ever after!
